Rock your Holi festival with these mouthwatering dishes

Holi- the most enjoyable festival in India, is celebrated with full of colors, smiles and very important bhang. Bhang is like one of the traditional drink in India or you can say desi cocktail.
So here I am gonna share the tasty dishes recipe which you can find easily in every home during Holi.

On my top list, I am starting with Bhaang, every Indian people is aware of this name and most shocking part is that this term has been used in various Bollywood songs.

1. Bhang

Bhang is not served directly, it is added with lassi or milk or sweets etc. Bhang is basically prepared from fresh leaves of ounce marijuana or cannabis. First, you need these things – 2cups of water, 1 ounce marijuana leaf, 4 cups of warm milk, 4 almonds and for flavors we add garam masala and ginger. And for pleasant smell little bit rose water; also sugar and saffron.

First, boil water and put it into a clean tea spot and then add a clean leaf to it, after this wait for 10 minutes and now separate leaf and water. Use the leaf to grind with little quantity of milk (1 spoon) and repeat this procedure till you get a half cup of milk. You will notice that it has become a little bit thick. Now add warm milk and finely chopped almonds to it, after this shake the whole mixture.
In the strained liquid, add garam masala, rosewater, sugar, and saffron and mix well.
Your bhang is ready to serve when it gets chill.

2. Gujia

It is mostly made by North Indian family on all festive occasions. The amazing thing about this dish is that you can use sugary coconut halwa or sugary suji or dry nuts for inside filling.

Gujia is basically made of maida and ghee. Here 1Kgof Maida flour is mixed with 1cup of warm ghee. Now check using your finger whether it is creating any texture on finger contact. After these add some water to create the perfect dough and don’t forget to cover the dough with a moist cloth as it is made of maida flour.
Now shape the dough, put inside filling and lock the dough like pastry. The final step is to fry it.

3. Malpuas

It is an Indian Pancake full of ghee and sugar syrup. All you need is 1 cup wheat flour, ¼ cup of milk, ¼ cup of sugar and ghee for frying. Now put milk on sugar so that it can dissolve in milk fully. Now add this milk to wheat flour and stir it for 5 minutes.
Now heat ghee in a big nonstick pan and pour mixture into the hot ghee 1 at a time and deep fry on a high flame till golden brown in color from all the sides.

4. Kulfi

Kulfi – India’s best dessert. Heat 1.25 ltr of full milk and keep stirring it. Add 1/3 cup of sugar, cardamom powder and nuts and stir in medium heat till it gets thick. Once it gets thick turn off the flame and leaves them to get cool. After 1 hour place the liquid in kulfi moulds and keep it in the deep freezer for 7-8 hours and then unmould it to serve. You can add some saffron or nuts for decoration and taste.

5. Mathri

Mathri is a crispy biscuit and it is very necessary to make perfect dough for it. First, you need these following things.

  • ¼ cup Suji,
  • 1cup Maida,
  • ½ teaspoon Ajwain(carom seeds),
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper,
  • 1 teaspoon Kasuri methi,
  • 3 tablespoon Ghee,
  • Salt,
  • Oil for frying


Now take a container and mix maida, suji, black pepper, kasuri methi, ghee, ajwain and salt properly. Now add little water and start kneading it to create hard dough (tight dough). Now leave the dough for 20 minutes on a plate and cover with a soft cloth, till you can ready oil for frying.
After 20 minutes create small balls and shape them. Fry them in medium hot oil till it looks brown and crispy.
Enjoy your crispy mathri with a hot cup of tea.
